June

Off to a Great Start!

Summer camp season for 2023 has kicked off! We have completed four sessions as June comes to an end. Hundreds of campers have come through our gates and walked the grounds—all spending time seeking wisdom and the Father who gives it. We are thankful for all that has unfolded this summer, and we are so excited for what is to come as we begin the second half of our summer camp season!

Jr. 1

Our Junior session was so special, sharing the Gospel and the love of Jesus with little ones. Campers started their morning in the gym learning about God through skits that brought to life multiple stories in the Bible where wisdom was on display. Our activities team planned an epic schedule, including crafts, pavilion games, and a Water Day celebration. Our Day Camp also ran alongside our overnight camps each week, creating a fun, lively campground filled with joyful shouts and giggles.

High School 1 & 2

High School sessions brought over 250 High Schoolers. Our Biblical programs team led the search for wisdom. Starting on Sunday of each week, we had the privilege of diving deep into a study of the Good News of Jesus. Following the Gospel study, Lauren Mosher shared her gifts as she led us in an interactive Gospel painting. It was a powerful evening as campers had the opportunity to experience communion, worship, and the Gospel in new ways. The week was filled with several other interactive presentations, like the prayer walk and blessing over the campers before they returned to their lives outside Camp. Our activities are a true powerhouse team, pulling off three theme nights and two survivor day experiences. Our traditions and memories stood strong with nitty gritty, electives, and country store. This summer's new favorite electives are water polo, CH-YO-CA ball, halo ball, embroidery, and “for the girls”!

Sportsman’s Camp

With a schedule packed full of adventure and all things outdoors, Sportsman's Camp is an exciting week, to say the least. It continues to welcome new campers from all over the nation, teaching them how to enjoy creation and, most importantly, what it means to follow the Creator. Thank you to Willie Robertson, Jordan Summitt, the Duck, Buck, Strut, Fin Commander teams, and numerous volunteers for hosting Sportsman's Camp at Camp CH-YO-CA again this year. Campers went home with a whole new set of skills, from survival training to game calling, gun safety, and much more.

States Represented at Sportsman’s Camp: Louisiana, Texas, Mississippi, Missouri, Michigan, Oregon, Ohio, Wyoming, Florida, Maryland, North Carolin, South Carolina, Pennsylvania, Arkansas, Oklahoma, California, and Colorado.

Looking Forward to July!

We could continue to talk about all the victories of each week, but it would cause this newsletter never to end. It was a joyful month here on our 100 acres of holy. We are grateful for our new activities and electives that reflect the uniqueness of each of our incredible staff members, and we also want to recognize our new campers! 42% of our campers this summer were first-time attendees! It is so exciting to have the chance to welcome them into the Camp CH-YO-CA family.

Finally, and most importantly, a very special thank you to our support team for all the time, effort, and money donated. This past month, as well as this summer, would not be possible without your generosity. Whether it was donating basketballs or our new soccer nets or sponsoring a camper to attend a week at Camp, we are truly thankful. Because of our support team and excellent staff, we have a great summer ahead of us and the opportunity to make a lasting impact on the lives of our incoming campers.

Along with our social media postings, all of our media is published daily for both day camp and overnight Camp on smugmug.com
